Context/Problem

Francisco was looking for a way to improve bid management. His division had pushed their Excel logs to the limit: conditional formatting, color rules, and even a gantt chart to forecast availability of team members. However, one mis-type and crucial information could be deleted by accident. There was also no way to trace who deleted or added information. As Francisco put it, their Excel logs "never gave you the feeling that all is good. You could come in the next day and realize something hadn't been formatting for the last week."

Francisco says that now, when he walks around the office, he sees Roger open on the screen of every estimator—everyone is constantly populating and referring to it. When bids are assigned, everything that the estimator needs to get caught up and do their work well—emails, past bid versions, history of activity, team notes—is there, in the log item. As Francisco has told the Roger team, it is hard to imagine doing their work now without Roger.
